De derde wereldoorlog breekt uit in ‘Tom Clancy’s EndWar’. De game is een mijlpaal op het gebied van artificiële intelligentie, graphics, physics en animaties. Al deze dingen zijn mogelijk door de verbeterde hardwaresystemen.

Wat ‘Tom Clancy’s EndWar’ uniek maakt, is de functie dat iedereen samen moet spelen. In totaal zijn er drie facties, de U.S. Joint Strike Force, de European Enforcers en de Russian Spetsnaz. Met welk team je ook speelt, in ‘Tom Clancy’s EndWar’ krijg je de beschikking over soldaten, tanks en vliegende voertuigen. Sommige tanks zijn krachtig tegenover helikopters, maar zwak tegenover andere tanks. Juist door de zwakke en sterke punten van een voertuig te ontdekken, kan jij daar als generaal je voordeel uithalen.

Onder jouw leiding zal je drie verhaallijnen krijgen met elk dertig missies. ‘Tom Clancy’s EndWar’ wordt gespeeld volgens een beurten systeem. Jij en je tegenstander zijn dus om de beurt aan zet. Daarnaast heb je een mogelijkheid om zelf missies te maken en deze te delen en spelen met je vrienden.
